Just wondering where everyone is at present and where they are heading?
Came across one BT owner from Albury in Isisford, three from SA in Longreach last week.
Today between Tully and Mount Suprise passed 2 BT's heading South and East.
We are presently enroute to Cobbold Gorge then onto Lawn Hil for visit number 2 for 6 Days and off on the Savannah Way. _________________ GoodTimes |

Heading to the Sunshine Coast, a few health issues with my Folks have forced a change in plans. Savannah Way etc will have to be another time. Currently parked up by the Barcoo River at Tambo.
Barkly Hwy alive with BT's. Three at Camooweal Lagoon, four at Corella Dam and one at Lloyd Jones Weir. Have exchanged notes with most of them.
Cheers. _________________ Mike Rymer |

Lucky devil - just did same trip and had a ball! Boulia was a suprise - lovely spot; also Tobermorey Station was a nice spot to stop on the Donahue; Road from Boulia to Alice was pretty good all the way to Harts Range and then HR to Gemtree was very corrugated and unpleasant.

G'day Folks,
we are at Louth for the races and have been here for a few days. We recommend the event for future adventures as it is a fantastic event. A one club Ambrose event without handicaps as a consideration....... well we, my mate and I who are both 5 markers were joint winners. We were awarded a nice pen each. Famtastic!!!!!

Went Past a BT heading towards thargominda this morning towed by what looked to be a Toyota Tundra. Thorough gentlemen, but what else could you expect from another BTW user. _________________ The Wandering Rosiebears...

We are South of Carnarvon currently, having travelled the Buchanan Highway and GRR, into Karijini, and out through Millstream, through the RIO Rail Road.
Have seen BTs on the Gibb, towed by an Iveco, others towed by Landcruisers elsewhere, including in Alice Springs. With Frank and Jenny One parked behind us with a F250 towing ( G'day Len) at Derby then imagine our surprise to have two pull up beside us at Broome, both with GMCs. (G'day Warren and John). Others we see around too though and a big BT wave _________________ we may be grumpyolephartz but not too old to enjoy life |

We're limited to our annual leave, so heading off from cold, rainy Melbourne for 2 weeks on Fraser Island.
We don't own a Bushtracker yet (still saving the pennies for it), but hope to chat to any owners we find along the way to hear more about their wonderful rigs.

We are presently at Lightening Ridge after some free camping along the way through Chinchilla, Roma, Miles Etc. No free camping around here for obvious reasons. However, the Opal Caravan Park, open 3 and a bit years is excellent. Huge, very large drive through level sites, pets welcome, free dog sitting service, car and caravan wash area, lots of other extras. Very friendly and helpful managers, not the cheapest and very busy.
cheers,

It's hard to say where everyone is at exactly what date when all posted responses are 27/3/08.
Spent Christmas '15 at Port Julia then Bluff's Beach onto Port Gibbon till 5/4/16. Left then to Iron Knob, Lake Gairdner (camped at Watumba campground),Kinqoonya, Andamooka, Marree, Birdsville (Diamantina River in flood) ,Welford NP. At the moment sitting on the side of the Thomson River 20ks out of Longreach, will be heading east Tuesday 3rd May.
I have never seen the Birdsville HWY sooooo green almost like being on the East Coast, I reckon it might be one of the best years for the wildflowers out there maybe even Simmo might had a bit of a drink too.
Travelling from Birdsville to Windorah you could see the Diamantina in all it's glory.
I suppose we are some of the lucky ones, have been out here enjoying ourselves for the past 9+yrs fulltime with no regrets.

Hi Darrell,
Your post shows up as May 1, 2016 9:12pm on mine, and other posts show up on correct date and time. Would suggest something wrong your end? The date you indicate is your join date??
Yes love Longreach, lived there for 10 years and caught many Yellowbelly in the Thomson. And glad to see you spelt Thomson correctly, as the locals say, there is no 'p..' in the Thomson.

Born and breed Qeenslander, have a daughter who lives in Thomsons Road so the spelling comes natural. Am a bit computer illiterate, but all posts on this site come up as that date so if someone can tell me who to rectify it I'll get one of my grandkids to fixit when I see them.
As the song goes (you don't need an education to put another brick in the wall)

Hi Emu
Have a great trip. That is pretty well our intended route too but we will be a few weeks behind you. Once you get to the Alice, can you post a brief description of how you found the Plenty H'way? If you were able to do that, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Gday Grumpy.
Nice to meet you at the S.A mini muster. We are currently at Menindee Lakes, have been here for 2 weeks. Hasn't rained here for years, last week howling wind and rain (50mm) last night started raining around 10ish didn't stop all night. Walked to the toilet, about 50 mtr away and got boged a dozen times. Will be staying until Wednesday then head to Wilcannia, then north to Burketown.
Some things to see HMAS Whyalla, Whyalla. Koppio Smithy museum, Koppio. Axle Stenross marine museum, Port Lincoln. Tuna tour, Port Lincoln. Lincoln N.P good place to stay. Sculptures, Elliston. At Colton there was a fresh bread stall, not sure if still there. Talia caves. Haystacks (huge boulders) just south of Streaky Bay. In Ceduna the wombat lady and B.O.M (weather) are worth a look.
Enjoy.

Hello Grumpy
All that Michael says and go into Lincoln National Park and camp, plenty of van spots and good roads for big vans.
Yangi Bay in Coffin Bay NP is being done up and closed till end of the month so no van camping there but plenty of room in the town park.
We have been told that the best salmon fishing is at Lochs Well on the west side of thr Eyre Peninsula but are not there yet.
So will let you know later on that one.
All the best John _________________ John & Lynette |

I really enjoyed Memory Cove in Lincoln National Park. Bushtracker OK for road in, although I think they say camper trailers. Limited to ~12 vehicles per day through a locked gate. Nice camping bays near the beach. Have to book & pay in Port Lincoln B4 you go. Busy during holidays.
Tragic, interesting event during Flinders voyage/s. There was a large pod of Dolphins swimming off the beach the day I went in on a day trip last year. Just stunning.
The pub at Streaky bay serves great King George whiting & the 1802 Oyster Bar & Bistro at Coffin Bay serves super fresh oysters from their own beds in the bay. The menu had oysters prepared about 10 different ways. The Kilpatrick were the best I have ever had anywhere. On my bucket list to try a different style each time I pass through SA from the West.....
Happy days. _________________ Happy days

Into 4th day at Fisherman's Point in Lincoln National Park on Eyre Peninsula, great campsite overlooking bay. First night only 2 vans and late afternoon 12 hikers turn up, not sure where they acquired their firewood?. From then have had the location to ourselves.
Not a lot of sun Lithium batteries holding their own.
Fishing a little slow, a few Tommies only.
Can't believe the prices charged for fresh?? (frozen) fish down here, $60 kg for KG whiting. Other varieties similar pricing. Even fresh Barramundi fillets in NQ are half that.
Anyway another day or so here and then on to Coffin Bay. _________________ GoodTimes |

I have just completed a month travelling with three other Bushtracker owners. We went right to the top of Cape York and back without incident. The van tyre pressures were set at 25 psi as soon as we left the bitumen and the tow vehicles all at 28 psi.
We did not encounter any damage other than one flattie due to a damaged rim and a cracked windscreen from an oncoming vehicle. Correct tyre pressure and speed for the conditions....it works!
