We're thinking of taking our 19' on this route; leaving the Strzelecki to Cameron's Corner then on to Tibooburra and White Cliffs. After this we're hoping to follow the Darling on the west side back to SEQ.
Has anyone recently done something similar?
Cheers

Emu,
Came from Quilpie to Innamincka then to Lyndhurst about 1 month ago. To Queensland border fine bitumen except 7 ks which they were working on at the time. Once in SA terrible and very rough.
Having said that if you drive to the conditions which obviously vary then no problems.
Can't say about Cameron Corner at this time.

Howdy Emu,
We have done that route a couple of times over the last decade. Always different, but we are most wary of a tad of rain as the authorities will close those roads in an instance. The Darling river run is beautiful, but vey little sighting of the river. there is a website with lots of info done for that run. Can't think of it right now. Might get back with a link. _________________ Cheers - Ian & Sally

We did that route in 2016, which is a long time ago but might give you an idea of how it might be. Strezlecki to Cameron Corner was 'horrendous'. The 120km took us 5-6 hours. We were going to camp along there but there are signs everywhere prohibiting it so we pushed on the CC, arriving after dark. In short, from CC to White Cliffs, no problem. A few gates to open but the tracks through the various properties are lightly used and in general in very good condition with the exception of a few very short stretches between homesteads and yards or sheds that get a hammering. Great country and you will love it. |

Done that several times also.
I prefer to travel the (I think its called) the Olive Downs Track.
Turn off just before Fort Grey and follow that one.
Took our time on this track last time, travelling from Camerons to Tibooburra took three days, having a good look around.
Out from Milparinka go visit Depot Glen (Captain Sturt's camp spot) and do the walk up Mt Pool.
In white Cliffs we chose to stay 1 night in the Underground Motel just to see what it was like. We thought it was a waste of money.
Found out the next day we could've had a tour through the whole motel for $5.00 each.
The west side of the Darling is the best side.
Visit the Tilpa Pub and the Louth Pub. At the Louth Pub around 4pm, ask if someone can tell you the true story about the sun shining on the headstone.
In both pubs checkout the old photos back in the mid 1800's of the paddle steamers that were marooned in the mud, some of them, for years, waiting for the next rains so they could continue their journey up the Darling River.
Near Bourke drive out to see Fort Bourke. We towed our 20 footer out there. Trip not for the faint hearted. Although the track may have been improved since back then.
I wouldn't stay in Bourke, instead camp out at North Bourke at Kidman's Camp.
Enjoy the Trip kalmwaters _________________ Devils On The Prowl

Thanks to everybody for their feedback.
It is most valuable.
Devils thanks for the detail as we are taking our daughter and her family (in their rig) on this trip and they have had quite a lot of 4*4 and camp experience but not in the more remote parts.
We have traveled through all these areas before but not with the BT.
So again to all thanks very much
