Hi,
Launched the dish,
Auto search began
Then i got an x-motor fault displayed on the dish launch panel, and it will not retract.

I have,
reset the electrics via the red switch on the main panel
Reset the dish via simultaneously pressing all 4 buttons on the launch panel
Hooked up the car, ignition on then off
Now displaying 'init error'

Problem remains.

I will call BT tomorrow, but any ideas welcome.

Txs

Charles

Contact Daniel at Leisuretainment in Forest Glen.

https://www.leisuretainment.com.au/

He did my installation back in 2009 when he worked for Sound in Motion. He's now out on his own.

He replaced my LNB and serviced the dish motor on our trip to QLD last winter.

Call either him or SiM. They do all the electronic stuff.

Charles
I believe the X-motor is the rotation motor (Y-motor is elevation).
If the x-motor is seized or does not have power then the dish will not move to retract position to allow the y-motor to operate. I hope that makes sense.
May be a short circuit in the connections or a seized motor.
Might be worth replacing both motors and have the limit switch for the elevation motor checked for corrosion as well.

Have you pulled the fuse out of the control box (for 30 minutes) and retried.

For interest, although I'm not sure you want to do this yourself.

Grab hold of the dish and give it a good shake, press the reset and all should be good.

Wow, Bow and Nan, gave it a good shake, hit reset, it flashed red would you believe, and promptly retracted.

So, thanks for the technical tip.

And thanks for the other replies, I'm sat on the banks of the Murray here and I was considering what plan B might have been.

All good now, I'm in at BT in about 6 weeks, I will get then to check it out.

I think sometimes the gears are not in perfect mesh and lock.

Mine did the same, apparently mine had a lot of red dust that had turned solid and was stopping movement.

I was heading over to the Murray from the York Peninsular SA a few days back, and had to drive thru some horrendous dust storms, it was literally like driving through thick fog.

Maybe we have a root cause here.
