Hello Friends,
An Owner on this Forum, was in yesterday for a bit of a Service and tidy up of a couple of things. I was looking his Bushtracker over, as I often do, looking for anything obvious that needed attention or could be improved on with our current gear. Anyway it was all in good shape, a 2006 Bushtracker, and I made a positive comment to him. He replied words to the effect: "And She has been 170,000 kms, corrugation, off-road and all.." His praise of the quality put me up about six inches taller.
So this idea came about, a little competition here, whose Bushtracker as gone the farthest? He is an original Owner so that is an advantage, but 170,000 kms? Other vans would not even go that far: I was impressed. Mind you, that is nearly 12 years, but still he mentioned it and was impressed at how his Bushtracker handled it all these year with no problems. So, I made it a sticky, and a Poll here. If you like the idea, Vote! |

We bought our 20 footer from Graham and Jan Phillips in Feb 2012 and they had travelled in excess of 200,000 kms.
Jan and I have travelled in excess of 70,000... I doubt that there are not too many more that could exceed more than 270,000+ kms than our BT, but I am sure there will some out there. _________________ Hello everyone there in BT land,

We got our 19ft BT in 2008 and it has travelled at least 200k and served us well. Killed a set of batteries up in the Kimberley which had to be replaced and now have upgraded to lithium and upgraded axles.
Have just replaced the 200 series for another one with GVM upgrade and now ready for another 200k. Soon leaving from Brisbane to Adelaide Coober Pedy William Creek,Maree, Birdsville, Yaraka, Blackall. Adavale. Charleville and back to Brisbane

Calculating the klms our 2007 BT has travelled isnt so simple but i know two of our tow vehicles did 100,000klms each when we were on the road full time for 6 years and our current 200 has towed 45,000klms.
Van lives out in the elements and still in excellent condition because its well maintained. _________________ Cheers

I have been living permanently in my Bushtracker since November 2001. I'm not really sure how many kilometres my van has travelled. My estimate would be well over 200,000k. As it is my home I tend not to do long distances on rough roads. Now I cover about 10,000k per year, as I tend to spend more time in places rather than moving all the time. My second tow vehicle has now done over 140,000k. The first one covered about 160,000k from memory. |

I can't see a trip east happening for a while Peter.
If you are over this way, sing out. _________________ Stephen J

Good morning Peter,
Happy birthday again. You really have proved what a lifetime decision the purchase of a Bushtracker can be. Congratulations for approaching seventeen years on the road.

Hello Bushtracker Admin,
Just to clarify.
We had no dust entering the inside of the van, we have a piece of foam between the watertight door and the door vent.
I put the additional piece of 6mm foam on the lower fridge external vent. This acted as a filter on the air that is drawn in over the condenser and exhausted out the top vent.
Our van is a 2003 and it is a testament to BT's build quality and strength, that after well in excess of 200,000kms, with a portion of that over some very rough roads, we have just completed the trip to Cape York and return without any issue on the van.

As for distance - My tug is a 200 series that seldom is used except for towing so the distance on the tug is just slightly larger than the van.
My 2008 van did 200k on my last 200 series and I have just had a 20k service on my new 200 series. so I think 220k is fairly accurate as to the distance the van has done.

Jacki & I took delivery of 19’ van 11/05, became full timers 2/07. Have not long ago retired the HDJ100 (385000ks), went and bought a RAM it’s only got 5000ks due to covid19 shut down.
Van would have travelled well over 300000ks and as the saying goes we have just about been every where.
The secret is keeping all parts well maintained. Van is just about as good inside and out as it was the day we picked it up.
Couldn’t have asked for a better van especially for all the off roads and tracks we have been with only ever minor problems.
