These are simply 12" Commercial brakes instead of the industry standard 10". And we do recommend that on 16' and up. Some others use the 10", but we find them inadequate on vans over 18'. The 12" brakes are not a linear improvement, it is more than just the 20% of 10-12", they are a larger rotating mass to dissipate heat and so reduce brake fade on the hills. They also outlast the normal caravan brakes that shake themselves to pieces on the corrugation of dirt tracks.

In addition these are not the one piece hub drum 12" caravan brakes. Since we use larger bearings, these are a two piece pressed on drum on the larger bearing hub, like a commercial truck. The net effect is even a larger rotating mass to absorb the heat better, longer lasting equipment that also performs better. The truth is they cost about $500 more for the four wheeled brake system, but in our experience they last more than twice as long as convention 10" caravan brakes, so not only are they better performance but they are cost effective as well. You could easily spend the same $500 on renewing normal caravan brakes, again and again.... This is actually good value...
