Steven Gibbs here, Director, Bushtracker,

We are getting a lot of requests for the Lithium upgrade to older vans.. It is not really cost effective for most. Yes, about 90% of our new vans are opting for the Lithium Battery System, but on a new van we credit you for all of the normal gear so the price is much cheaper from new...

Here is the cost of the Lithium upgrades including GST. We do not do the marginal job of it like others do, we put in safety systems to protect the batteries and system from accidental or negligent poor management that could cause damage.

Battery Charger 40 Amp for 200 Ah Battery Specific to the option of the Lithium algorithm
Battery Charger 60 Amp for 300 Ah Battery
Solar regulator 60 Amp again for the Li charging algorithm
Epro Monitor
Relay Driver
Marine Latching Relay Safety for LVD
Manual over-ride to reset the system
Safety Hub for fuse and wiring connections

Labour to retrofit. Approx. 14 hours

Total for 200 Ah System including labour. $5338. Plus DC to DC charger if required to charge from the tow vehicle as it is different charging algorithm $795
Total for 300 Ah System including labour. $6610. Plus DC to DC if required. $795

So if your system is on a newer Bushtracker already using a Enerdrive charger and Morningstar regulator, these can be reused reducing the cost by between $904 and $1019. Depends on size of charger.

You can do it cheaper with some solar sales People, but the investment will not be protected as well as with our system. I would suggest that if you are going to do it, do it right with all the protective systems in place...

Kind regards, Steven Gibbs

Having had the 300ah Lithium upgrade done by Bushtracker in 2016 I became unhappy with the solar charge from the three original 120w solar panels. One failed & one was giving poor charge despite the panels looking as new. I had Bushtracker do a complete solar upgrade to four 150w Enerdrive panels. The result is now spectacular. Full recovery by early afternoon from 70%. No base load power required for over one month travelling in QLD & NT. Genuine off grid performance with no restriction on power use.

Regards,
Richard Driver
