Our Waeco 140 litre fridge has become too cold ( -24deg C) whilst the fridge is too warm (9 deg C), running on control number 4. 2005 vintage.
There was a lot of frosty ice in the freezer, and on the back wall of the fridge.
The vent is clear.

I have defrosted the fridge but the situation is the same twelve hours later.

I'm presently in Cairns.

Any suggestions welcome.

A simple search using waeco and fridge would have brought up many previous posts on all sorts of fridge problems, plus Steve's comprehensive posting on systematically diagnosing fridge problems.

You can read my long saga (with similar problems as you) but with a new Isotherm fridge at

Personally, I would track down an experienced fridge mechanic or Waeco agent and allow them to diagnose your problem, but my guess is that it is quite likely you have some sort of a gas leak, which often seems to result in the compressor running constantly to compensate, but fridge never cooling down properly. Meantime the freezer running of the same compressor ends up colder than normal.

Good luck.

If you are in Cairns and don't have your fridge sorted yet,
Transit Cool on Sheridan St just north of the airport turnoff.
They are very good
