Steven Gibbs here,
Director of Bushtracker,
also: HVRAS Officer for Queensland Transport.

I am sorry to have to say this, but we would not have sold this heavily loaded 21' Bushtracker to someone with an Isuzu D-max. It is our "Ethical Dilemma", to do the right thing, it is our "Duty of Care".

Experience has shown us that in a perfect world, maybe. But a heavily loaded 21' could easily be over 3000 kg empty, and there is not enough reserves in that tow vehicle to even fill the water tanks and still be legal.

Further to that, it is a stretch for even heavier vehicles like the 200 Series, in our experience. In our Professional opinion the Isuzu is more suited to a heavily loaded 19' Bushtracker, or a lightly loaded 20'. We put our Ethics and Duty of Care first, and we would NOT SELL a new 21' heavily loaded Bushtracker to someone with an Isuzu D-Max.

Hate me if you like, but we are about trying to do the right thing, and this is just not right. Nice Bushtracker van, but wrong tow vehicle, and it could come to serious grief...

Kind regards, but just telling it like it is.. Director, Bushtracker

One of your arguments (deleted) have changed history. You claim no one warned you when you came in for Service.

Well, there is some small chance no one noticed because it is marginal, but that is really slim. All of my Senior Staff would have noticed and said something. You are either in denial, or do not remember.

However, you have changed history. From now on when a marginal van comes in that looks to be over loaded or possibly too large for the tow vehicle, we are not going to Service it until one of the two things is done:

1) Proof with a weighbridge certificate that it is within limits or that the tow vehicle has been modified to be compliant.

2) In lieu of that the Owner must sign a document stating that we believe the tow vehicle is inadequate or illegal and the situation should be rectified.

Further: We already have a rule that if it is obviously way out of legal bounds, too small of tow vehicle, too heavy of van, over loaded or.... We are not going to Service the Bushtracker, because it is our "Duty of Care" that once it is unhooked, we cannot hook it back up to an illegal tow vehicle.

In Your Best Interests, and our "Duty of Care" not just to You, but potentially a car full of children that could be involved in an accident.

I don't do these things to run a popularity contest, I do these things because it is the RIGHT THING to do by everyone. Kind regards to all, Director, Bushtracker.

Here here Steve, that is the correct moral and ethical stance...

Thank you for your support Rosiebear... Thank you for the kind words...

Most of the time I just get blasted for trying to the right thing, that is not always popular..

But then I have the sobering thought: How would I feel if a new inexperienced Owner bought this rig and had the worst happen, that involved a carload of children or something like that?

I am leaving this Post up, as a learning curve for others. Sometimes it is hard to do the proper "Duty of Care" when some people take it personally, but it is necessary on the larger scale of trying to look after everyone's best interests.
I better quit now, the Scotch is taking over... Wink

This is still a really nice van at a very good price...!

Thanks again Rosiebear... Steven Gibbs, Director, Bushtracker
